Safety. Our very first priority.

Thousands of homes and businesses across Cook and Lake Counties count on us for safe, reliable electricity, but even more important than providing that power is making sure our members and employees are safe.

Never touch a power line or anything touching a power line.

If a line is down, don’t go near it, even if you are positive the power is off. The same goes for downed trees or other items caught in a power line. We have the equipment and experience to take care of it—all you have to do is contact us.

Call before you dig.

If you’re planning to break ground, make sure you contact Gopher State One Call at 800-252-1166. This helpful hotline will send a professional to your property to locate all buried utility lines. It’s simple. It’s smart. It’s safe.

Storm Safety

The weather we get here in northeastern Minnesota is the usual cause for power outages. Wind, snow and ice break branches and power lines, and our crews are out in it, working to restore your power. This can be life-threatening work, and if the situation becomes too hazardous, we pull our crews until conditions improve. Their safety is simply too valuable.
